We are two voices from two different countries who share the same concern : that of a continent doubting itself.

We grew up in a Europe that told itself it was at peace, reconciled with its own history. The closer you look, the more cracks you find. Reference points that shift. Certainties that thin out.

We travel more easily than ever, and yet distrust of the other has never been greater. Trade accelerates, and yet the fear of difference grows. We are more connected than ever, and yet more alone than ever.

Inequity sits right in the middle of all that.

Inequality is a snapshot : a raw fact, no judgment attached. Injustice is almost a crime : a rule broken, an identifiable culprit. But there is a third, greyer and more unsettling zone, one that no single culprit created and yet that is no accident either.

That's what inequity is : an inequality that could have been avoided and wasn't. Built, brick by brick, through collective decisions.

Being born poor because a father lost his savings gambling, that's inequality, a private story. Being born poor because the region you're born in hasn't seen serious investment in its schools and hospitals in seventy years, that's inequity.

Not every inequality is an inequity. But every inequity is, in the end, an injustice that someone chose to tolerate  or eventually normalized.
